The Dual & sequential (i-DSI) system changes the conventional ignition mode from 1 spark plug on 1 cylinder to 2 plugs on 1 cylinder on the intake side and exhaust side each, shortening the flame propagation time in the combustion chamber, realizing fast combustion in the whole range, reducing the tendency of deflagration, making it possible to improve the compression ratio greatly, unifying high output power, high output torque and low fuel consumption.
Key function of i-DSI
The ECU controls the ignition phase of the spark plugs on the intake and exhaust sides depending on the engine speed and the intake manifold’s pressure.
At idle speed: The 2 points ignite at the same time, the fuel consumption is reduced by faster combustion
Low speed, low load: The intake side with lower temperature of the combustion chamber ignites first to promote combustion and reduce the fuel consumption.
Low speed, large load: The intake side serves as the ignition advance angle, and the exhaust side as the ignition delay angle, to increase torque and prevent deflagration
High speed: Both points ignite at the same time to improve the power through fast combustion.
